Longridge Community Update
The Best Part of LR is the People!
Opening Message
We are closing out 2020 in a very, very different way than when we started. School has not looked, felt, or sounded anything close to our usual hustle and bustle, yet we are all feeling like we are working harder than ever. We have seen how hard parents and guardians are working to support students across our virtual model, and the staff continues to put in the extra hours to connect with families throughout the week. There are so many ways that we have connected:
- Phone calls, emails, Remind messages, SeeSaw and Google Classroom Reminders
- Wednesday materials distribution for fully remote learners
- Wednesday materials and meal deliveries
- Student take home meal program for hybrid learners
- Home visits
Our partnership with all of you remains one of the most critical aspects to the success of our students and we have appreciated your time and patience. We continue to be stronger together!
This month's update is a preview of the transition back to school in January (2021-WOW!). There will be updates on testing to be completed, priorities for students and staff (and how you can help), a parent survey, and information about some important members of our school community.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us in the main office at 966-5851.

Principal
Get to Know the LR Family!
One face that you see each day if you are on campus is our Security Guard, Joe Tisa. Joe has many years of experience within School Safety as a former member of the Rochester City School District. He is very familiar with the Greece Central School District as a former resident and Greece CSD parent. He fulfills many duties at LR, including traffic control, greeter, and community partner for students and staff. You can find him on most days enjoying lunch in the cafeteria with students!
Take Home Meal Program
Thank you to our amazing Kitchen Staff for coordinating the preparation and delivery of meals!
Things to Know for January
- Mid-year Review: We will be completing a mid-year review. This is an opportunity for us to reflect and celebrate what went well from the first half of the school year, as well to action plan for areas of growth. We will be reviewing student performance, student engagement and attendance, and survey data. If you are interested in joining us for this review as a parent representative, please reach out to Jason Juszczak in the main office at 966-5800.
- Universal Screening: Three times a year, we test students reading and math skills through a digital resource called iReady. iReady is an adaptive program. This means that it provides your son/daughter with personalized lessons focused on areas of need for reading and math. In order for us to make sure that the lessons are appropriate and focused on true needs, we retest. These tests will be taking place from mid-January through the beginning of February. More information will be sent home to you so that we can work together to prepare students for these experiences. All students in grades 1-5 should currently be using this resource for at least 45-minutes each week. If you have not see your son/daughter access this resource, it may be that they are using it in school. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child's teacher.
- January Calendar of Events: Thank you to our Parent Liaison, Lindsay Wallace, for putting together our monthly calendar of events. Our calendar for January can be found at the following link.
- Parent Survey: Your feedback is important to us. As the District transitions to welcoming more students back from fully remote learning in a few weeks, we would like to hear your thoughts on the first few months of teaching and learning. Please take a few minutes to complete the following survey: LINK
- Food Pantry Flier: Please see the link for times and locations for local food pantries for families.
